Tanner joined Elder’s in February of 2011 and has been our Hardin Valley Store Manager since the store opening in November of 2019. Tanner has worked at our Highway 58, South Knoxville, Bearden, North Broadway, Dixie Lee and Hardin Valley stores. The grilling department is his favorite because he says there is so much you can learn from customers who have been cooking for years. Sometimes you get customers that know exactly what they want, but other times you have to walk a customer through each type of grill to figure out which is best for their needs. When asked his favorite thing about working at Elder’s, Tanner said “I enjoy that I am able to be honest with my superiors. While this has been my only job, I cannot tell you the amount of friends I have that can barely get in contact with their supervisor. I like the fact that our President will make time for me and is just a phone call or text message away if I need him. You do not find that in many companies. I also enjoy helping our customers find what they need. I think the best part about this company, and it's something I try to tell all new hires, is the saying "the washer not the faucet." That speaks volumes to what this company stands for in my opinion. We do not want to upsell a customer to an item they do not need. We want to help them get the right item so they will trust us and will keep coming back.” On his days off, Tanner enjoys grilling, attending concerts and sporting event and spending time with his dog. He also enjoys smoking things on his Traeger and relaxing on his back porch. Tanner attended UTK, where he was the Smokey mascot. He graduated from UTK in 2017.
